Von dort ging es nochmal in eine Reservation. \u00dcber den Highway 60 f\u00fchrte der Weg zum spektakul\u00e4ren Salt River Canyon. Fotos und Videos k\u00f6nnen kaum wiedergeben, welche Superlandschaft man hier findet. Ganz in der N\u00e4he liegt das alte Fort Apache, das wir vor Jahren schon mal besucht hatten und deshalb diesmal nicht anfuhren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Show Low machten wir Mittag und fuhren dann weiter Richtung Payson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Payson ist bekannt wegen seines guten Klimas und der Lage am Mogollon Rim. Au\u00dferdem war hier die Heimat von Zane Grey, einem weltbekannten Western-Schriftsteller. Man k\u00f6nnte ihn quasi den Karl May von Nordamerika nennen. Auf Basis vieler seiner B\u00fccher wurden sp\u00e4ter auch Westernfilme gedreht. Wir besuchten das kleine, aber sehr interessante Zane Grey-Museum und erhielten eine einst\u00fcndige Privatf\u00fchrung.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Klima und Umgebung gefielen uns so gut, dass aus geplanten 2 Tagen Aufenthalt insgesamt 11 wurden. Wir hatten einen freien \u00dcbernachtungsplatz am Pine Loop Trailhead, eine kostenlose Dumpstation in Payson und Super-Wanderwege direkt vor der Wohnmobilt\u00fcr.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/37281-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-680\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sprintiesworldtour.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/37281-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/sprintiesworldtour.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/37281-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sprintiesworldtour.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/37281-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sprintiesworldtour.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/37281-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/sprintiesworldtour.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/37281-2048x1536.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/sprintiesworldtour.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/37281-120x90.jpg 120w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption>Am Pine Loop Trailhead<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Highlight war dann die Befahrung der Rim Road, einer Gravelroad entlang der Kante des Hochplateaus mit grandiosen Fernsichten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Und das am Ende noch ein starkes Unwetter aufzog, rundete die Tour mit ein paar Thunderstorm-Fotos ab, wie wir sie in Europa so nicht h\u00e4tten machen k\u00f6nnen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/37296e-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-681\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sprintiesworldtour.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/37296e-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/sprintiesworldtour.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/37296e-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sprintiesworldtour.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/37296e-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sprintiesworldtour.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/37296e-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/sprintiesworldtour.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/37296e-2048x1536.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/sprintiesworldtour.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/37296e-120x90.jpg 120w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption>Thunderstorm over the rim<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Am Wochenende gingen wir dann zur Life Music in den Pinewood Tavern Saloon. Eine Band aus dem Ort trat auf und der Laden war rappelvoll.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>11.11.2019 (Veterans Day)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Es war Feiertag und wir fuhren weiter westw\u00e4rts. Die alte Route 66 wartete auf uns.
